Board of Directors
Allan W. Arendsee, Chairman
Mr. Arendsee is the President of A.W. Arendsee Real Estate and a private investor. Arendsee was one of the founding directors of Southwest Community Bank and served on the board of directors of Placer Sierra Bancshares, a $2.5 billion bank holding company based in Sacramento, until the sale of that company to Wells Fargo in 2007. In addition he serves on the board of directors of the Burn Institute, a local non-profit that specializes in fire and burn prevention, education and survivor support.
Richard M. Sanborn, President and CEO
Mr. Sanborn joined the bank in October of 2007 and has served as a director and as the President and Chief Executive Office of the Bank since that time. He is a 23-year veteran of the financial services industry where he has held executive level positions in several institutions ranging from $75 million to $5.1 billion in size. He has extensive experience in all facets of banking from lending, to operations, to strategic planning, to mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Seacoast Commerce Bank, Mr. Sanborn was the Executive Vice President and Chief Banking Officer for Pacific Western Bank, a $5.1 billion San Diego headquartered bank. Mr. Sanborn is an active member of the community where he coaches youth soccer, is on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club and the California Bankers Association. He holds an Associate of Science Degree in Computer Science and Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy from Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts, and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from California Pacific University in San Diego, California.
Ronald A. Bedell, Pacific Horizon Financial
Mr. Bedell is the President of Pacific Horizon Financial, Inc., and President of the Commercial Real Estate Finance Forum, a group of private money bankers with a combined capital base in excess of $2 billion that securitize real estate loans. In addition, he is a Director with the California Mortgage Association which is comprised of over 400 member firms specializing in private money financing as brokers and/or bankers.
Lisa M. Betyar / Lindsay & Brownell, LLP
Ms. Betyar is a partner with the firm Lindsay & Brownell, LLP, Certified Public Accountants, which is a tax consulting and compliance practice founded in 1992. Prior to Lindsay & Brownell, Ms. Betyar was a Tax Consultant with Deloitte & Touché. Ms. Betyar received both her B.A. in Accounting and M.S in Taxation from the University of San Diego, and serves on several non-profit Boards of Directors including the Coastal Community Foundation, St. Germaine’s Auxiliary, and Children’s Hospital Trusts and Estate Committee.
Robert DePhilippis, Bobby D. Enterprises / Filippis Pizza Grotto
Mr. DePhilippis was an organizer of the Bank and has served as a director since the Bank was approved. He is the sole owner and President of Bobby D. Enterprises, Inc., which has been doing business as Filippis Pizza Grotto in Escondido, California since 1972. The DePhilippis family started the business in 1950 and now has ten locations in San Diego County and one in Temecula. Mr. DePhilippis is also the owner and President of D&D Restaurants Inc., which owns and operates two Filippis Pizza Grottos located in Poway and Jamul.
Mark I. Greene, Lucky Motors
Mr. Greene was an organizer of the Bank and has served as a director since the Bank was approved. He previously was a founding shareholder of Pacific Commerce Bank in Chula Vista and has invested in several other financial institutions. Mr. Greene has lived in San Diego County since 1949 and in 1965 established Lucky Motors in Chula Vista. The business moved to the Mile of Cars in National City in 1969 then to La Mesa in 2001.
Richard S. Levenson, Western Financial Corporation
Mr. Levenson is the President of Western Financial Corporation, an investment banking and brokerage firm headquartered in San Diego, California that specializes in assisting community-based financials with stock trading, capital offerings, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning and brokerage services. In addition, he is currently a director with Pacific Commerce Bank in Los Angeles, and a director with the Grossmont Hospital Foundation.
Bruce A. Nunes
Mr. Nunes was an organizer of the Bank and served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank through March of 2008. He has over 37 years of banking experience. He was associated with Bank of Commerce in San Diego for 11 years, having served as Executive Vice President. Prior to joining Bank of Commerce, he served in management of Grossmont Bank in La Mesa. From 1981 and 1986, he served as a Regional Vice President for Wells Fargo Bank. Mr. Nunes has served on the Board of the California Bankers Association Southern Region. Mr. Nunes earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.
